ABOUT ME: I was born just before Pearl Harbor was bombed. Needless to say, World War II impacted much of my life just as the First Great Depression impacted the lives of my parents. I'm a history buff, but I'm more into the Civil War than WWII. I'm also a mystery, sci-fi and action story reader, movie-goer and TV program watcher. I write a little sci-fi as well. I'm a huge "Star Trek" fan and when Gene Roddenberry died, I wrote a short poem in his honor. I'm also a huge fan of the original "Battlestar Galactica" series with Lorne Greene, Richard Hatch, Dirk Benedict, Anne Lockhart and Herbert Jefferson Jr. Too, I'm a major fan of both "Babylon 5" and "Space Above and Beyond. " I'm happy to say that I went to most of the B5 conventions, met many of the B5 cast members, and many cast members of other shows as well. My all time favorite cast member, whom I had the good fortune to meet, is Anne Lockhart who was Lt. Sheba of "Battlestar Galactica. "All that said, I'll pare away the periphery: I love a good story that either keeps me guessing or sets me on the edge of my seat. I also have in interest in real science, primarily special relativity.
MUSIC: Classical, some country, 40's era swing, 50's and 60's era oldies and disco. I used to be pretty good at swing dancing, having been addicted to it.
MOVIES: Action, mysteries and science fiction. The latest "Star Trek" film is the best I've seen to date. "The Last Starfighter" is high on my list also. I've seen "Avatar" and it's great!
TELEVISION: Again action, mysteries and science fiction along with military history, and forensic science fare. : Programs I watch include "Covert Affairs," "Suits," "Revenge," "Royal Pains," "White Collart," "NCIS" and "Rizzoli & Isles." "My absolute favorite television program was "24" starring Kiefer Sutherland for the eight seasons it lasted. My current favorite is probably "Covert Affairs."
BOOKS: Mostly mysteries, but some science fiction. "Ender's Game" andn "Ender's Shadow" by Orson Scott Card are my favorite science fiction stories. For mysteries I like Agatha Christie's Miss Jane Marple and all of Dan Brown's heroes. I especially like Joanne Fluke's "Hannah Swensen Mysteries" featuring cookie baking sleuth Hannah Swensen, her partner, Lisa Herman, her sisters, Andrea Andrea and Michelle, and her mother, Delores, all of whom help Hannah solve dessert related murders (recipes are included at the ends of certain chapters). Joanne Fluke brings to life the most delightful characters.
WHOM I'D LIKE TO MEET: I've already met a goodly number of people I wanted to: many "Babylon 5" stars, "Space Above and Beyond" stars and some stars from the original "Battlestar Galactica" series. There are many more I would still like to meet, two of whom are Native Americans. There are two I would like very much to have met but I no longer can: Lillian Gish and Tim McCoy.
HEROES: Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, the college professor who not only led brilliantly at the Battle of Little Round Top, but also spoke ten languages fluently.
